Sportradar Sees Major Growth Opportunity in Prediction Markets
Highlights
- Sportradar believes prediction markets will bring new business opportunities to the US.
- Partnerships with Kalshi and Polymarket are expected to generate larger financial benefits from 2027.
The sports tech firm has recently inked multi-year deals with Kalshi and Polymarket to supply data and other services as prediction markets grow throughout the US. Koerl believes the segment can help to expand Sportradar’s reach to other states, draw in new users, and drive more interest in sports.
Kalshi’s partnership with the company is for real-time data to support trade settlement, fan engagement, customer acquisition, and integrity services for MLB, ATP, NHL, MLS, and UFC sports.
Additionally, Sportradar has teamed up with Polymarket to supply Tennis Data Innovations data, allowing registered US users to download live data from approximately 20,000 matches annually.
The company predicts that the prediction markets will generate tens of millions of euros of revenue in 2026. But the implementation of some deals has been hampered by the uncertainty and delay in getting league approvals. The money expected from the sector will rise significantly in 2027 with further commercial deals, says Sportradar.
Sportradar earned €64m in revenue for its Sports Content, Technology & Services segment, an increase of 9% on the same figure in the same quarter last year. Prediction markets contributed only a small share to the quarter, but are expected to help drive robust growth in the second half of 2026, management said. Additionally, Koerl said that Sportradar is still in talks with other market players in the prediction market space, which may lead to additional commercial partnerships in the near future.
