Record Gaming Revenue Marks New High for New Hampshire

Gaming

Highlights

  • New Hampshire charitable gaming revenue amounts to $46.9 million in May 2026.

  • With over 200 municipalities, the state offers operators plenty of scope for further growth.

New Hampshire’s charitable gaming industry climbed to a record high in May 2026. The Lottery Commission reported $46.9 million in revenue for the month, a staggering 30.2% year-over-year growth. The key enforcer for this growth has been video lottery terminals (VTLs).

Video lottery terminals (VLTs), often called slot machines, have played a major role in the recent growth of New Hampshire’s gambling sector. They generated more than $24 million in May and have become a primary source of revenue.

While traditional games of chance brought in $10.4 million, recording a 5.5% increase from last year. Horse racing was down by 53.1% to 12.3 million, showcasing a significant dip in player interest.

The dramatic growth of New Hampshire’s gambling sector has revolutionized local gaming venues. Many gaming facilities are expanding their offerings with restaurants, live entertainment, and additional attractions to appeal to a wider audience.

Researchers say that the state’s gambling market will generate more than $1 billion in the coming years. However, the industry’s fast growth has raised concerns, as some municipalities believe current regulations may not be enough.

Some communities have reported problems with heavy traffic, overloaded emergency services, and pressure on local infrastructure.

Even as challenges persist, the presence of more than 200 municipalities gives operators numerous opportunities to broaden their operations.
