The latest reports from Asociación Chilena de Casinos y Juegos (ACCJ) trade body point to stringent regulations and strict measures targeting illegal gambling.
The association has issued statements in response to mounting pressure faced by legitimate land-based casinos in Chile. The country’s gross gaming revenue from land-based casinos fell by 4.5% year-on-year to CLP509.8 billion ($597.5 million). The total tax collected decreased by 4.7% to CLP214 million.
In 2025, there were 25 operating casinos in Chile, among which 22 were licensed under Law 19.995. The remaining three municipal venues are undergoing regulatory transitions. Despite all this, economic indicators reveal disturbing statistics.
Following the issuance of the legal notice, the Chilean Supreme Court has instructed the blocking of illegal gambling website software. The ACCJ has further emphasized that judicial action is crucial to clamp down on offshore and unlicensed operators to restore revenue and consumer safety.
Gambling is illegal in Chile unless offered by the Concepción Lottery, Polla Chilena, racetracks, or at expressly authorized gambling casinos.
