June Nevada Gaming and Vegas Tourism Data Remain Flat

The State’s Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reports a 2% YoY increase in jobs in June.Â
Nevada’s latest June gaming, visitation and economic figures were broadly unchanged as the fiscal year comes to an end for both Las Vegas and the wider Silver State.
Nevada Gaming Control Board reported that revenue stalled at $1.34 billion last month, remaining stagnant with growth of +0.8% year-over-year. However, gross total for the fiscal year climbed by 2.5%, reaching $16 billion.Â
The Las Vegas Strip reported a 1% year-on-year decline in June GGR to $754.6 million. Even so, the Strip recovered from last year’s setback to record 2% fiscal-year growth to $8.9 billion, with disappointing baccarat performance accounting for much of June’s weakness.Â
The Strip’s total winning accounts amounted to $102.7 million on games in June, a 20% dip from the previous year.Â
June visitation was essentially flat year-on-year at 3 million, as per the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Business conferences contributed to a 25% increase supported by a strong event schedule.Â
Total occupancy across the market stayed at 78%, while Strip room rates and revenue per available room were down approximately 5%.
The Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation says that, from an employee’s standpoint, it has seen a 2%Â year-over-year rise in nonfarm jobs in June. Furthermore, DETR reported that 1.7k new job entries are available statewide, comparatively higher than in other sectors.
