The sports betting market in Virginia marks a historic milestone, with total revenue soaring to $737.2 million, the second-highest since its inception.
The Virginia Lottery reported that total sports betting in the state was 18.4% higher compared to September 2024. These figures suggest a drastic increase ofĀ 44.5% from the previous month, August.
Out of the $737.2 million wagered amount, $731.5 million accounts for online betting and the remaining $5.6 million is from the retail sportsbook. Sports betting consumers received a payout of $667.4 million in winnings. Overall, the gross revenue stood at $64.5 million.Ā
Online betting accounts for $63.6 million, and the remaining $891,650 is attributed to retail betting. The sports betting has successfully collected a tax of $9.7 million during the month. The accumulated amount has been directed to the General Fund Allocation and the Problem Gambling Treatment & Support Fund Allocation.
