Chicago Confirms Sports Betting Will Remain Live in 2026

Highlights

  • Sports Betting in Chicago continues without a pause in 2026.

  • SBA lawsuit challenging city’s new sports betting regulations will prevail.

Sports Betting in Chicago will continue uninterrupted in 2026, following which the sportsbook alliance will immediately withdraw its efforts to block news tax and licensing laws.

The Sports Betting Alliance (SBA) association is a coalition of Bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics Betting and Gaming.

They filed a lawsuit previously claiming that the state’s Sports Wagering Act has not given authority for local governments to enforce new taxes or demand the state’s sports betting tax, or demand a license to generate revenue from sports betting.

As of 30th December, none of the sportsbooks has been licensed, which has led to a rise in legality concerns for the industry. But of late, licenses were issued to all five sportsbooks, as the state’s sports fans will continue to have access to legal, regulated sports wagering without interruption for this new year.
