Trade Chief: Norway Gambling Reform Still Alive

The Secretary General of the Norwegian gaming industry association (NBO), Carl Fredrik Stenstrøm, advocates for gambling reform despite the September election results and believes that Norway will adhere to the state monopoly system for at least the next two years.

He further vindicated his statements by showcasing parliamentary support for the licensing model. It was on 8th September when the Labour Party won the elections, leading the coalition of five parties strongly favouring Norsk Tipping’s gambling monopoly.

With the increasing number of young men facing gambling problems, and gamers becoming gamblers. The trade chief insisted on drafting a policy revolving around player protection and revenue generation.

But the recent scandals at state-owned Norsk Tipping have sparked the debate on gambling reform. Stenstrøm shared his viewpoint on this issue, as this issue is the consequence of misplaced priorities at Norsk Tipping.

Despite the electoral setback, the trade chief remains optimistic about gambling reforms in Norway.
