PRAGCOR, the Philippines operator and regulator, has shown its disapproval of a complete ban on online gambling despite a public outburst to criminalise the industry.Â
According to the Senate Committee on Games and Assessment Data, the online gambling sector is experiencing a boom in the Philippines region, with total earnings jumping from $140 M in 2022 to $ 2.4 B in 2024.
The committee last week attributed the recent growth of the gambling industry to raising various concerns in the Philippines. Sen Erwin Tulfo, who voiced against online gambling, quoted that “as long as online gambling exists, we are breeding the next generation of addicts, debtors, and broken families.”
