Sports Betting Lifts France GGR by 3.5% in H1

The gross gaming revenue in France increased by 3.5% year-on-year in H1, totalling €5.7 billion during the first half, driven by the online sports betting market.
According to the National Regulator, l’Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ), this revenue was ahead of €5.5 billion in H1 produced during the previous year. This revenue is not interlinked with land-based casino and gaming clubs, as they were published separately.
It is to be noted that the country’s gambling revenues have been on the rise during H1 for the last few years. The rise of the online gambling sector has partially contributed to the overall growth, with the recent hike being 6% to €1.4 billion.
Online sports betting experienced an annual growth rate of 10% reaching €961 million. Football has been the most sought-after sport, accounting for 52% of all online bets. ANJ also reported that, apart from a rise in sports betting, the Kindred acquisition helped online betting and gambling revenue to touch €703 million with an astounding growth rate of 458%.
