In August, Massachusetts saw a surge in sports betting activity from its users as it amassed $545.3 million. This figure suggests that it has shown significant growth compared to August 2024, with net revenue being 11.4 % higher than the previous month.
As per the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, the sports betting handle recorded an annual growth of 21.9%. The online operators contributed $537.4 million of the total sum collected on sports betting, and $7.9 million belongs to retail sportsbooks.
The total tax generated from sports betting equals $55.8 million. The online betting and retail sportsbook reports $55.1 million and $681,347 of tax, respectively. The land-based casino gaming revenue rose to $105 million, 1.7% higher than the previous year.
The tax income from the gambling sector stood at $41 million, which comprises $11.1 million from sports betting and $29.9 million from casino gaming.
