Las Vegas Tourism Slows But Gaming Still Grows

October became another month with a visitation decline, with a rise in gross gaming revenue for Las Vegas. On Tuesday, the Nevada  Gaming Control Board revealed that the state’s gross gaming revenue rose to $1.35 billion with a growth rate of 5% year-over-year. 

The strong performance by the strip after the September decline to post a GGR of $748 million, with an 8% annual increase. Through the first quarter of the fiscal year, it is 3.3% ahead of its pace a year ago. Even with the increasing trend in revenue, tourism fell again in October.

The report from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority indicates that the overall visitation fell by 4.4% to 3.4 million for this month. It is to be noted that there was not more than 1% visitation growth in the last 13 months. 

Baccarat has been the top performer of the strip for several months now. Strip casino in October has won $116 million on the game, with a staggering 69% growth from the previous year.
