Online Gambling

Highlights

  • The new study from KSA raises concerns over online gambling risk analysis measures.

  • KSA voices its issues regarding variable outcomes of risk analysis across operators.

The report from regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) on Friday identified flaws in the risk analysis system used by online gambling operators in the Netherlands. The study was conducted between 2024 and 2025 to measure the effectiveness of the risk analysis system in safeguarding players from exploits.

To become legally compliant, all licensed operators in the Netherlands should abide by such a system. Operators should evaluate the level of risk associated with high-stakes games, such as online slots. Depending on this, they must take measures to prevent players from harm.

KSA is dissatisfied with the methods that are carried out for risk analysis. There are 5 different methods.KSA said, “These methods originate from a time when the online market in the Netherlands was not legalised”. KSA exposes a major flaw in how variable outcomes of risk analysis across operators are not comparable.

KSA concludes that the current system is not up to the mark, and there is a lot of scope for modification and improvement.
