Georgia Revives Sports Betting Bill Despite 2026 Doubts

Georgia Lawmakers call for sports betting legalisation despite challenges faced in previous attempts. Rep Matt Hatchett introduces the HB910 bill that authorizes sports betting under Georgia Lottery. It is the same proposal that has been laid out in the previous sessions. Last time it didn’t pass the committee.  

The sports betting legalisation in Georgia can be done in the absence of a constitutional amendment. Over the years, several attempts were made to add sports betting. 

Due to political turmoil, industry sources claim that Georgia’s potential for this year is mostly sour. The House Study Committee on Gaming in the State of Georgia published a nine-page report with no recommendations. 

Proposed framework to legalize 18 sportsbooks in the state.  The sportsbook’s annual license fee would amount to $1.5 million annually, with tax for sports betting taxed at 25%.
